Every year, Lawndale Council of PTAs awards five $250 high school scholarships to amazing high schoolers at each of the five Centinela Valley Union High Schools. Students must be alumni of Jane Addams Middle or Will Rogers Middle and most demonstrate a persistence to secure a post-high school education and have provided consistent service to the community. This program is named after a highly regarded member of the Lawndale Community for her years of service. She served as a PTA volunteer in Lawndale at multiple schools and at the council level for 20 years. She also was a member of the LESD Board of Trustees.
The Lawndale Council of PTAs is proud to have a program to celebrate amazing 8th graders who go above and beyond at their schools. This program provides educational grants for students to use for programs to further their educational goals after graduating from either Jane Addams Middle or Will Rogers Middle.
Lawndale Council of PTAs hosted a Candidates Forum for School Board. We were able to provide a unique platform that brings together candidates running for the school board position. This forum provided an opportunity for the candidates to showcase their ideas, discuss important issues, and engage with the community. Attendees were able to gain valuable insights into each candidate's vision for the school district and make informed decisions during the elections.
Learn MoreLawndale Council is addressing the growing number of families who are concerned about finding safe ways to drop off their children at school. These families are also receiving parking citations causing economic hardship and increased stress for our families. We are working on finding a solution to drop off and pick up at each school site to better support Lawndale students and families.
